NICK VEASEY BENEATH THE SURFACE

Mystery rider on a 41 Matchless G3L 350cc military bike

Artist Nick Veasey has been messing around with x-rays ever since he was hired to x-ray a cola can for a TV show in England, when he was a relatively unknown still photographer.  He took the opportunity to also shoot his shoe, and was so intrigued with the process he eventually purchased a surplus x-ray machine, and built a bunker inside a warehouse with 30" thick walls and a 2300lb lead door to keep himself safe.  While medical x-ray stations have minimal b eams directed at very specific, small areas, shooting much larger objects, like guns, motorcycles and even a Boeing 777 jet, meant hospital-style shielding was out of the question.  To be clear, Veasey doesnt shoot a whole motorcycle in one go - he shoots it section by section, then has helpers Photoshop the pieces together into a whole.    His most recent project, as reported in Wired.com yesterday, was a series of vintage motorcycles, borrowed from a local club.  He also installed a handy skeleton prop on a few of the bikes, and later shot the clothing, which was all blended later.  Ive been a fan of his work for years, as who isnt fascinated by x-rays?

Heres Veaseys artist statement from his website: "We live in a world obsessed with image. What we look like, what our clothes look like, houses, cars… I like to counter this obsession with superficial appearance by using x-rays to strip back the layers and show what it is like under the surface. Often the integral beauty adds intrigue to the familiar. We all make assumptions based on the external visual aspects of what surrounds us and we are attracted to people and forms that are aesthetically pleasing. I like to challenge this automatic way that we react to just physical appearance by highlighting the, often surprising, inner beauty.

2016 BMW M Car Sales Soared Review Specifications

BMW Australia said it expects M sales grow 20 percent next year strong as the company closed 2015 with record sales M best to date, topping out at more than 1000 cars.

Speaking to Caradvice today at the announcement of the brand to re-enter the motor in Australia, the boss of BMW Australia, Marc Werner, says BMW M2 will likely be M-selling car for the brand.

"It has huge potential to become our biggest selling model." Said Werner.

"At the moment M3 together with the M4 is our best selling model, but with M2 we are in the price bracket that is totally different under $ 100,000, so we see opportunities in the corridor a large volume of price."

Expects brand new entry-model BMW M2 in the second quarter of 2016, while the niche models like the M4 GTS will help maintain the performance sub-brand on a growth trajectory.

Werner said that the success of the models performance in Australia is due to the types of cars "suit the Australian lifestyle" because they provide options "sporty" and "show off" to the buyer.

Upcoming BMW M4 GTS is also set to become the most expensive car in size M, with a model undoubtedly has an interesting collection of interest from buyers.

Only M4 GTS to 700 vehicles will be built around the world, the number heading to Australia still in the negotiation process. Werner admits the price will be high enough from the standard car.

"[We want] as much as possible ... When we communicate the car will be available in Australia we have a lot of questions. You can expect, given the exclusivity of the car, it will be a subs tantial premium. [It will be become] collectors items such as the M3 CSL, the we launched a few years ago and if you look at the resale of the car ...

The success of the brands performance in Australia is not a new thing, with rivals Mercedes-AMG racking are always impressive 3729 sales year to date (Jan-Nov) with a performance brand hopes to top 4000 sales for the first time.

Fuel-Efficient V-6 Power
The Pilots advanced 24-valve all-aluminum V-6 engine offers numerous f riction-reduction technologies, "intelligent" Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control® (i-VTEC®) and Variable Cylinder Management™ (VCM™). The VCM system allows the V-6 engine to operate in 6-cylinder mode for maximum power and in either 4-cylinder or 3-cylinder mode for increased efficiency. The Pilots EPA fuel economy2 ratings give the 2014 Pilot 2WD the highest fuel economy rating of any eight-passenger SUV and the Pilot 4WD the highest fuel economy rating (highway) for any mid-size 4WD SUV. In addition, the Pilot meets the stringent ULEV-2 (Ultra-Low-Emission Vehicle)6 emissions rating of the California Air Resources Board (CARB).

A standard 5-speed automatic transmission features Grade Logic Control to help maintain the most appropriate gear when climbing or descending steep grades, helping minimize gear "hunting." The available Variable Torque Management® (VTM-4®) system on Pilot 4WD models adds fully automatic 4-wheel-drive capabili ty, and features a "lock mode" that can deliver the maximum-possible torque transfer to the rear wheels to aid extraction from extremely low traction or stuck conditions.

Functional Exterior Styling
Bold and expressive, practical and elegant, the 2014 Pilot presents its own unique blend of function and style. The Pilots grille and front fascia feature a distinctive 3-bar horizontal design, while multi-reflector halogen headlights and integrated turn signals contribute to the premium look. Pilot LX models are equipped with 17-inch styled-steel wheels, while Pilot EX and above models have 5-spoke, 18-inch aluminum wheels. Touring models feature an exclusive 6-spoke alloy wheel design with a high-contrast machined surface.

Eighteen cubic-feet of cargo space behind the third row seats matches or exceeds the trunk space of a typical large sedan. For maximum cargo space, the second and third rows fold flat to provide 87.0 cubic-feet of tota l cargo space and sufficient width for carrying 4-foot-wide items such a sheets of plywood or drywall. The cargo area also has a hidden storage well that provides 2.8 cubic-feet of additional space. The tailgate (power operated on EX-L and Touring models) features a lift-up glass hatch for convenient access to the rearmost cargo area.

Comprehensive Interior Features
Sophisticated design, high-quality materials, advanced electronic features, and low noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) provide a comfortable and enjoyable experience for passengers in all three rows. The roomy accommodations include 16 different seating configurations for the 60/40 split-folding second- and third-row seats.

All Pilot models come equipped with a high-resolution 8-inch intelligent Multi-Information Display (i-MID) with rearview camera display (multi-angle on EX-L Navi and Touring), iPod album artwork display, and user-loadable wallpaper function, plus Blu etooth® HandsFreeLink®, Bluetooth® Audio, USB connection and automatic climate controls. The Pilot EX and EX-L models include a 2GB CD Library (CD-L), while Pilot EX and above models also include a 10-way power-adjustable drivers seat and tri-zone automatic climate control.

The available Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation Systemâ„¢4 offers 60 GB of total system memory (including 15 GB allocated for user media) and voice recognition for three languages. Its hard drive can store thousands of minutes of music, which is accessible by simple voice commands using the Song By Voiceâ„¢ feature. And the free FM Traffic feature provides continuous updates on traffic and incidents.
